Mumbai police in touch with Bangalore cops
Tuesday, September 2 2003 22:40 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai: Mumbai police on September 2 said they were in touch with their Bangalore counterparts over
the detention of a person suspected to be involved in the recent twin bomb blasts and were probing his
links with the co-accused.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Satyapal Singh said,"We have got information from Bangalore police
about the detained person. But so far we had not received any information on the possibility of the
person's involvement in the bomb blast."
However, no team of city police has gone to Bangalore yet, he said.
Intelligence Bureau had picked up Mohhamed Fahim at the Banglore airport for interrogation in
connection with the recent bomb blast in the city.
Singh said they had found bogus papers relating to a person absconding in the bomb blast but there
had been no progress on investigation of the person's involvement in the blasts, he added.
The police have not located the headquarters of Gujarat Muslim Revenge Group, Singh said adding it
seems only four to five people had come together and found a group.
The police are still looking into the transfer of money and supply of explosives to the four persons
arrested so far for executing the blast, he added.
Singh clarified that the police has not yet established any connection of the underworld and Students of
Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in the blast.
