Ghaziabad: Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia, scheduled to distribute
tridents at Hapur, was not allowed to enter Ghaziabad district and was sent to Delhi on September 2,
official sources said.
Togadia, along with his party workers, tried to enter Ghaziabad district at around 8:30 am (IST) from the
Garhmukteshwar border area at Jyotiba Phule Nagar (Gajraula), but was sent to Delhi via Meerut,
Ghaziabad SSP Chander Prakash said.
Togadia was scheduled to distribute 'trishuls' at a 'deeksha' ceremony at Hapur, he said.
Earlier, inspector general of police (Meerut zone) Vibhuti Narain Rai had banned Togadia's entry into
Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts.
Rai had ordered that the VHP leader be arrested if he violates the ban.
Rai said police force was deployed at all inter-state borders of Ghaziabad and Noida districts to prevent
his entry.
