Wednesday, September 3 2003 18:39 Hrs (IST)

Jammu: Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were killed in a powerful IED (Improvised Explosive device) blast triggered by militants in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on September 3, official sources said.

The high-power IED was targeted at a security convoy in Chirala road in Gandhoh forest belt and it exploded with a big bang when the ITBP troops passed over killing two soldiers instantly. Two other jawans were injured in the blast and were hospitalised, the sources said.

Soon after the blast, a cordon and search operation was launched in the area to track down militants responsible for the act, the sources said.

Militants also abducted one Mohammad Rafeeq, a former special police officer from Pagal village in Doda on September 3 morning, they added.
