Ludhiana: President A P J Abdul Kalam on September 4 asked industrialists to be prepared for the
global competition as without such a preparation it would be difficult to progress in the prevailing
business environment and the era of economic reforms.
"In today's environment your aim has to be different and you should be globally competitive and to
obtain this agriculture and industrial sector should make themselves prepared for which leadership
qualities should be improved," the President told a gathering of industrialists on the occasion of silver
jubilee celebrations of Ludhiana Management Association (LMV).
In the agriculture sector agro-machinery and agro-food processing field should be adopted for the
progress and new skills and equipment should be adopted for the development, he said while praising
the role of Punjab in building the nation even after facing decade-long terrorism.
"It is our vision to see India as a developed country by 2020 and until and unless we are economically
strengthened, this vision cannot be fulfilled and competitiveness is must for overall economic
development," he said.
Giving details about his blue print of developed India, Kalam said strengthened economy could be
powered by knowledge generated through technology and resources management, which could further
be empowered by revenues through volume of repeated sales for which customer loyalty and customer
delight is a must.
