Wednesday, September 3 2003 19:19 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore: With increasing outsourcing of software development work from customers of its European
parent, IT services major LogicaCMG on September 4 announced plans to increase its workforce in
India from 400 to 1,500 in the next 18 months.
"LogicaCMG Offshore services division anticipates an increase in the amount of offshore development
to India from its global customer base across the UK and Europe," a company statement said in
Bangalore.
LogicaCMG said it has won contracts for offshore work with one of the biggest financial services
institutions in the Netherlands, and from a large public sector organisation in the UK.
"The offshore services proposition now forms an integral part of all LogicaCMG bids for projects in
Europe and the UK. We expect further growth in our offshore business in the
second half of 2003," LogicaCMG Offshore Services Managing Director Mike Weston said.
Besides outsourcing of software work from India, the Bangalore-based LogicaCMG has extended its foot
print into new territories including Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh and
Pakistan, with several new customers in the area of mobile telecoms.
LogicaCMG South Asia Managing Director Louwke Van Der Steen said the firm had deployed real time
gross settlement (RTGS) system for Reserve Bank of India and was aggressive in growing business in
the region.
