Jammu: Troops began to close in on the terrorists hiding in Ghati area of Kathua district early on September 5 as the encounter entered fourth day.

The troops started advancing after firing from ultra's side stopped in the morning, security sources said.

They would be combing the two-kms forest area where seven terrorists have been holed up since September 2 afternoon and have prevented any advance by security forces through heavy firing, sources said.

While the firing from the terrorists' side receded on September 4 evening, it resumed during the night, they said, adding three additional columns of Army were deployed in the area to strengthen the security grid there.
