Pune: Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislator and former minister Krishna Yadav, who was arrested in Hyderabad in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, was on September 7 produced before court and remanded to police custody till September 20.

Yadav was brought to the city early September 7 morning by the Special Investigating Team (SIT), probing the Rs 3,000 crore fake stamps and stamp paper racket, for further probe into the racket.

The legislator, who represents Himayatnagar Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh, was picked up from his residence by SIT in pursuance of an arrest warrant issued by a special judge of Maharashtra Crime Control Court.

The legislator is accused of helping the prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi in the fake stamp paper racket which had rocked Maharashtra last year and has ramifications in more than seven states across the country.

Apart from sections 33 and 24 of MCOCA, provisions of Bombay Stamp Act and various sections of Indian Penal Code have also been applied against the MLA.

Yadav is the second MLA to be arrested in the fake stamp paper racket. The sitting MLA of Dhule district Anil Gote was the first politician, who was arrested under the provisions of MCOCA for having links with Telgi.
