Series of bomb blasts rock Kathmandu; one killed

Kathmandu: A two-year-old child was killed and over a dozen people injured as a series of explosions
rocked the Nepalese capital on September 8 morning.
The blasts rocked Kathmandu city between 8 am and 10 am. Police suspect the Maoists to be behind
the attacks but no one has claimed responsibility so far.
The bombs exploded during the morning rush hour in the office of the government land revenue,
department of vehicles office and police post, police said.
A bomb exploded in Baneshwor near the Labour Department at 9.15 am injuring about half a dozen
people including deputy director of the department Dandhoj Basnet, the police said.
Another bomb exploded in front of Nepal Rastra Bank, the national bank of Nepal at Baluwatar, killing a
two-year-old girl child, a senior police officer at Kathmandu District
Police Office.
Three bombs were planted at the three-storey building of Department of Land Measurement at Kalanki
in the outskirt of Kathmandu that went off at 9.30 am. The bombs damaged the office building and
injured two people, police said.
Another bomb exploded at Ward Office at Naradevi on September 8 morning but no one was injured.
Similarly, a bomb exploded at Transport Management Department at Ekantakuna of Lalitpur district
injuring two people. The injured were rushed to the local hospitals.
A bomb exploded at the Land Revenue Department at Byasi in Bhaktapur Municipality neighbouring
Kathmandu district injuring at least five people, police added.
