Jammu: A terrorist, believed to be among the seven who engaged security forces in Ghatti area of
Kathua for a week, was killed by police in a nearby area early September 9.
The terrorist lobbed several grenades on the police party before being shot dead in Jakhol area, police
sources said.
The police party, assisted by village defence committee (VDC) members, engaged the terrorist after
getting information about his presence there, they said.
Several more grenades are suspected to be in a bag being carried by him, the sources said.
He was not carrying any weapon as it is believed to have been snatched by a local in nearby Malaman
village during a scuffle on September 8.
The militant is believed to be one of the seven who were hiding in Ghatti, and after fleeing three of them
had a scuffle with an Armyman currently on leave in Malaman village, about 4 km away from
Ghatti.
During the scuffle, the terrorists shot at and injured the Armyman before VDC members arrived there
forcing the terrorists to flee.
