Baghdad: One Iraqi was killed and 41 people wounded, including some US Defence personnel, in a suspected car bomb blast in the Northern city of Arbil, a US military spokesman said on September 10.

Staff Sergeant Shane Slaughter said the blast went off at 22:05 hours (22:35 IST) on September 9 at a building he described as the "state house" in Arbil but was unable to give any other details of the explosion.

"So far there are 41 wounded and one confirmed dead," Slaughter said. "There were US DOD (Department of Defence) personnel who were injured."
