Jammu court awards lifer to 10 Pak-trained ultras

Jammu: For the first time since the inception of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, a court in Jammu on September 10 awarded life imprisonment to 10 Pakistan-trained militants for carrying out subversive activities.

Principal Sessions Judge Subash Chander Gupta also convicted them under the Arms Act and awarded each one of them rigorous imprisonment of seven years.

The 10 convicted ultras are Maqbool Hussain, Ghulam Mohammad Wani, Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Hussain, Mohammad Yousuf, Kaka, Mohammad Latif, Mohammad Aslam, Barkar Hussain and Mohammad Shafi.

They were charged with creating subversive activities posing threat to security and integrity of the state.
