'US would have done anything to avoid Mumbai blasts'

Washington: Expressing its resolve to fight global terrorism, the United States has said it would have
done anything to prevent the recent blasts in Mumbai.
"The bombings in Bali or the bombings in Mumbai, we would have done anything to avoid that," US
National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice told reporters on September 9.
She said a donor conference on Iraq will be held on October 23 and 24.
"We need to remember what is at stake here. Yes, the price tag may be very high. However, freedom is
priceless. Security is priceless. When the World Trade Centre came down, we would have paid any price
to avoid that," Rice said.
Rice said the US has a lot of international partners in Iraq and the UN has also been "very involved" in
the reconstruction of the war-torn country.
"The UN has been very involved, involved enough that, unfortunately, the terrorists went after the United
Nations and the relief workers who were there helping the Iraqi people," she said.
"But we believe that a new United Nations resolution could provide an opportunity for more countries to
be involved, for the international financial institutions to be involved," Rice said.
