New Delhi: The Supreme Court on September 10 directed the Centre and state governments to strictly
monitor the functioning of diagnostic centres so as not to allow them to indulge in illegal sex
determination resulting in female foeticide.
A Bench comprising Justice M B Saha and Justice Ashok Bhan said the court's earlier orders for
compulsory registration of all diagnostic centres across the country should also be strictly implemented
to curb the practice of female foeticide.
