Bangalore: Unhappy with the government, Infosys Chairman N R Narayana Murthy on September 11
said that there was no feedback on implementation of the 108 recommendations made five years ago by
the National Task Force on Information Technology.
"I don't know how much of this is implemented...I don't want to be graceful, there is not a single piece of
paper to show that there are recommendations that have been implemented," Murthy, a member of the
task force which made the recommendations, said in Bangalore after receiving the "lifetime achievement
award" from Bhoovigyan Vikas Kendra.
Asserting that there was a need for "urgency" in implementing a series of measures in making sure that
benefits of IT reach the poorest of poor, he said, "if not..I am afraid, we will fail".
"If we are very serious in making a difference to the majority of the country with whatever limited
resources….the allocated resources should indeed be used and there should be good project
management and constant review of the progress made," Murthy said.
Stating that "nobody cares for India" abroad and whatever respect India has gained overseas is
because of "its self-sufficiency in food, space technology, missile technology and software industry", he
said, "the world will respect us in areas we perform and as long as we perform well".
