Tirupati: The famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near Tirupati has earned a record
amount of Rs 58.3 million in 'E-collections' during the last 17 months.
Temple sources said that cash collections from the 'E-Seva' system alone accounted for Rs 32.4 million.
An amount of Rs 16.2 million was received from all over the world through 'E-hundi', while Rs 8.7 million
was collected through 'E-accommodation'.
These three services were introduced in April 2002, the sources said.
Under the 'E-Seva' system, devotees could make online booking of various tickets to participate in
various rituals. For 'E-Seva' and 'E-accommodation', people could book through the Internet by
submitting details of their passports or credit cards. Their contributions would be duly acknowledged with
a computerised printout of a receipt, the sources said.
