I had reservations about going to Wagah: Musharraf
Saturday, September 13 2003 16:35 Hrs (IST)

Islamabad: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said he had reservations about going to Wagah border in 1999 when Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee made a historic bus journey to Lahore.

However, he said, in an interview to 'The News' daily, "I had no problem in saluting him, as he was older than me and I saluted him at Governor's House."

"I was ready to shake hands with Vajpayee, as I met him 30 to 40 minutes at the Governor's House ... and what if I saluted Vajpayee," he said.

Musharraf did not elaborate on the reservations he had in going to Wagah where Vajpayee was received by the then Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
