Geelani appointed chairman of Hurriyat rebel group

Srinagar: Syed Ali Shah Geelani was on September 15 appointed chairman of the breakaway faction of Hurriyat Conference.

Interim chairman of the rebel group Masrat Alam, who resigned from his post, said it was a unanimous decision of the General Council of the group to elect Geelani to the post.
