Hurriyat chiefs Geelani, Lone under house arrest

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Bilal Gani Lone were put under house arrest on September 15, as Jammu and Kashmir officials feared law and order problem at Hurriyat headquarters at Raj Bagh in Srinagar, police said.

Police informed the two warring leaders about the prohibitory orders on their movements at 7.00 am (IST).

Geelani faction of the amalgam called a meeting at Muslim League headquarters while Ansari group has convened a meeting at Hurriyat office on September 15.

Both leaders have been put under house arrest amid fears that their supporters might clash, police added.
