NCM calls for a meet of Kashmiri Pundits, Muslims
Monday, September 15 2003 20:32 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: National Commission for Minorities (NCM) is convening a meet on September 15 between representatives of Kashmiri Pundits and various Muslim organisations in a bid to find an "amicable solution" for the safe return of the Pundits displaced in the wake of the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.

"This for the first time that we are holding a meet between Pundits and Muslims. We want to create awareness about the plight of Pundits who are driven out of their homes," NCM Chairman Tarlochan Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

The meet, among others, is expected to be attended by members of major Kashmiri Pundit organisations such as Panun Kashmir and All India Kashmiri Samaj and Muslim organisations including All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamiat-e-Hind, the Chairman added.
