Ahmedabad: A special Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) court on September 15 rejected Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s application seeking in-camera trial of Haren Pandya murder case and
preventing media from reporting proceedings of the case.
In a related development, the court also reserved to September 17 its order on bail plea of Ashgar Ali,
who is alleged to have pumped five bullets into Pandya on March 26 at Law Garden.
The CBI had filed an application under Section 30 (3) (D) and Section 30 (2) of POTA
seeking "preventing the media from publication of court proceedings in the Haren Pandya murder case
and the attempted murder of VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leader Jagdish Tiwari".
The investigating agency had also sought holding proceedings inside central jail premises in
Ahmedabad to an application seeking in-camera trial of Haren Pandya murder case under Section 30
(1) of POTA.
