Dara Singh, 12 others convicted in Staines murder case

Bhubaneswar: Thirteen accused, including Dara Singh, in the Graham Staines murder case were convicted by the trial court in Bhubaneshwar on September 15.

Another accused in the case, Aniruddha Dandapat has been acquitted.

District and sessions judge M N Patnaik acquitted Aniruddha Dandapat because of weak evidence against him.

Prime accused Dara alias Ravindra Kumar Pal and others were convicted under sections 120B, 148, 149, 435, 436 and 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Award of sentences in the case would be done on September 22.

The accused who have been convicted in the case are: Dara Singh alias Ravindra Kumar Pal, Rajat Kumar Das (alias Dipu Das), Mahendra Hembram, Renta Hembram, Ojen Hansda, Kartik Lohar, Rabi Soren, Dayanidhi Patra, Mahadeb Mahanta, Harish Mahanta, Thuram Ho, Surath Nayak and Umakanta Bhoi.
