Naik terms SC order on HPCL divestment as historic
Tuesday, September 16 2003 16:16 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Union Petroleum Minister, Ram Naik, on September 16 termed the Supreme Court judgement on halting of HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corp Limited) and BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corp Limited) disinvestment as 'historic' and said the Ministry of Disinvestment would decide the future course of action.

"After receipt of the full judgement, the nodal ministry (Disinvesment Ministry) will study the order and ask for comments from the concerned ministry (Petroleum and Gas) and the Union Cabinet will take decision on the matter," the Minister told reporters in Mumbai.

He said the Supreme Court was the 'supreme authority' and he was yet to go through the copy of the judgement.
