India, Turkey agree to set up JWG on terrorism

Ankara: India and Turkey on September 17 agreed to set up a Joint Working Group (JWG) on
combating terrorism and signed accords to enhance co-operation in science and technology and
Information Technology.
After wide-ranging talks between Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his Turkish counterpart
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the two sides also exchanged instruments of ratification of the Extradition Treaty
signed in 2001.
The two sides decided to exchange information and intelligence inputs on terrorists and their
outfits.
The protocol on terrorism was signed by Minister of State for Commerce Satyabrata Mookerjee and
Turkish Transport Minister Bin Ali Yilderum. The two ministers also signed the protocol on IT and
software.
The agreement on co-operation on Science and Technology was signed by Mookerjee and Turkish
Energy Minister Hilni Guiler.
