Shillong: The United States was constantly "pressuring" Pakistan and would continue to do so to stop
cross-border terrorism in Kashmir as it was not satisfied with Islamabad's response, its Ambassador to
India, Peter Burleigh, said on September 17.
Burleigh told reporters that the Indo-Pak conflict was a matter of great concern to the US which is a
common friend of both the countries.
The envoy said that Washington was constantly talking to the two countries for resolving the conflict
through dialogues.
Asked if the US believed that Pakistan was abetting cross-border terrorism as claimed by India, Burleigh
said, ''There have been evidences in this regard in the past, especially after the attack on Indian
Parliament.''
The US was "not satisfied" with Pakistan's response on eliminating terrorist camps which existed in that
country. The Bush administration took this problem "seriously" and urged both countries to live in
peace.
The envoy, who was in Shillong to participate in a seminar, said he was not aware of the accusation that
Bangladesh was harbouring militants and China supplying them with arms for creating trouble in the
North East.
''We would expect Bangladesh to support our war against terrorism and, if the accusation is true, like to
put pressure on the government there to stop it,'' he said.
Burleigh, however, said that seizure of arms in a country did not prove a government's support to
militants.
