Three militants killed in an encounter with Army

Guwahati: Three militants were shot dead by the Army in the jungles of Chaygaon near Guwahati on September 18, official sources said.

Acting on a tip off, the troops carried out a search operation in the early hours when they came under fire from the ultras hiding inside the jungles.

An encounter took place in which two National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) ultras and one Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) militant were killed, official sources confirmed.

During the search, the Army recovered one nine mm revolver, one .32 revolver, six Chinese grenades, four empty cases, one live round, 42 gelatine sticks, 15 detonators, one dicta-phone and 20 metres of cordex wire.
