Come to senses & frame law on Ayodhya: VHP to govt
Thursday, September 18 2003 14:34 Hrs (IST)
Meerut: Accusing the Central government of putting hurdles in the way of construction of Ram temple at
Ayodhya, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Ashok Singhal on September 18 said Hindus cannot
wait any further for realising it.
"No government or election can stop the temple issue," Singhal, who is in Meerut in connection with the
Ramlila at Sardana, told reporters.
Reiterating the VHP demand for enabling construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya through a legislation
already rejected by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Singhal coined a new slogan
directed at the Centre, "Come to the senses and frame law."
Asked why VHP would not wait for court verdict in the wake of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)
report, which spoke of evidence of a temple having existed in the disputed site prior to the mosque,
Singhal said, "The biggest court is Parliament and VHP had demanded bringing in a legislation in Lok
Sabha for temple construction, but political parties paid no heed to it."
Accusing the Union government of causing hurdles in the way of temple construction, Singhal asked
Hindus to join in a spirited movement for the temple construction.
"Programme for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya has been chalked out in the saints' meeting
held in Delhi and Hindus had waited for 18 years and cannot wait further," he declared.
