Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had accumulated properties worth crores of
Rupees in four districts of the state, the state's Chief Secretary Akhand Pratap Singh said on September
18.
"Mayawati had accumulated properties worth crores of Rupees in Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Noida and
Ghaziabad districts of the state which had been transferred in the names of her family members in the
recent past," he told reporters.
He said "there were records of purchase of land properties which, if I recall correctly, is about more than
100 of them where her (Mayawati's) name occurs as an owner".
On the alleged involvement of senior Indian Administration Service (IAS) officers in the multi-crore scam,
Singh said the names of former Chief Secretary D S Bagga, Principal Secretary to former Chief Minister
P L Punia besides former Environment Secretary R K Sharma and V K Gupta have come to light and the
government would take appropriate action against them as per the apex court directives.
Chargesheets against these officials would be filed as per the Supreme Court directives and they would
be served show cause notices, he said, adding the inquiry officer to conduct departmental inquiries
against them would be appointed later.
Singh said the government was awaiting formal orders from the Supreme Court on this count and would
act only after that.
