Panaji: There was no need for anyone in the government to step down in connection with the Babri
demolition case being heard by a special court at Rae Bareilly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national
president Venkaiah Naidu said on September 18.
Reacting to reports in a section of press that Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani may resign, Naidu
said, "BJP is of the view that the Ayodhya related case is a political case. There in no moral turpitude.
"There is no need for Advani or the Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi to
resign on the Ayodhya-related case," Naidu, who is in Panaji in connection with the local party workers'
meeting, told reporters.
The BJP leader expressed confidence that in the ensuing Assembly elections in five states, the party
would win in four and make a breakthrough in Mizoram.
BJP would win in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Delhi, he said, adding the party would
fight the elections on the plank of development, security and good governance.
"Ayodhya will not be an issue in the elections," he said, and added "Though BJP wants a magnificent
temple at the birth place of Rama, it does not want a legislation for its construction.
"We are a coalition government. There is not enough support from the NDA partners to it. We do not
want the legislation to be defeated," he said.
