SC directs CBI to register FIR against Mayawati

New Delhi: Supreme Court on September 18 directed Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register a
first information report (FIR) against former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati and her then
colleague Nassimuddin Siddiqi for alleged irregularities and malpractices in the construction of Rs 175
crore Taj heritage corridor project at Agra.
The Supreme Court also directed CBI to lodge FIRs against former chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh
D S Bagga, former Central environment secretary K C Mishra, former Uttar Pradesh principal
environment secretary R K Sharma, former state environment secretary V K Gupta, Mayawati's
principal secretary P L Punia and National Project Construction Corporation managing director S C
Bali.
A Bench comprising Justice M B Shah and Justice B N Aggarwal gave this direction, "considering
the serious irregularities and illegalities committed in the construction of Taj heritage corridor
project without any approval from appropriate authorities".
