Kasturirangan,Venugopal, Usha Uthup win honours

Thiruvananthapuram: Former chief of ISRO Dr K Kasturirangan, eminent lawyer K K Venguopal and well- known pop singer Usha Uthup were on September 19, chosen for 'Kerala Kala Kendram's' Global Awards.

The awards were meant to honour Keralites who had made outstanding contributions to diverse fields, Kala Kendram General Secretary K Aanandakumar told in a press meet.

Roy Philip, a US-based entrepreneur, Dr Chitra Shamsuddin, a medical practitioner in Sharjah and John Johnson, a Dubai-based entrepreneur were selected for the ‘Golden Honour’ of the Kendram.

The awardees were selected from short-listed nominations by a three-member jury.

The awards, consisting of a plaque, citation and 'ponnada', would be presented in the first week of October at a function in Thiruvananthapuram.
