Betul (MP): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Chief Ministerial candidate for Madhya Pradesh Uma Bharti
on September 19 said she was ready to face any punishment in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid
demolition case.
"I am ready to face any punishment for my role in the Ram temple agitation, for which I feel proud," she
told reporters at Shahpur, 35 km from Betul.
A special court in Rae Bareli on September 19 decided to frame charges against Bharti and six others in
the Babri Masjid demolition case, while discharging Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.
Asked whether she would still be BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate in the state after the court order,
Bharti said, "I was made the Chief Ministerial candidate by the party and will abide by the party
decision."
She said she was not involved in the conspiracy to demolish the Babri Masjid but was proud of her role
in the temple movement.
