New Delhi: The Gujarat government on September 19 assured the Supreme Court that it will amend the grounds of appeal in the Best Bakery case in the High Court to seek further inquiry, collection of additional evidence and a direction for retrial.

A bench comprising Chief Justice V N Khare, Justice Brijesh Kumar and Justice S B Sinha allowed two weeks time to the Gujarat government to do the needful and posted the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) petition challenging the acquittal of all 21 accused for further hearing on October 9.
