New Delhi: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on September 20 said he had spoken to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in New York on the Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi's resignation from the government, but declined to comment on the situation arising out of it.

Advani, who was discharged in the Babri Masjid demolition case on September 19, however, declined to answer any questions on the issue from reporters, saying "Whatever I had to say I said yesterday."

Asked whether he had spoken to Vajpayee who was in New York to attend the UN General Assembly session, Advani said, "I had spoken to him yesterday also."
