Cong wants CBI to appeal Rae Bareilly verdict

New Delhi: Congress on September 20 demanded that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) file an
appeal over the verdict of the special court of Rae Bareilly in the Babri Masjid demolition case, which
has discharged Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and wanted acceptance of the resignation of Human
Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi.
Party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy said the discharge of Advani was a "clear and massive example of
sabotage" by CBI as the prosecuting agency "conspired to get the prime conspirator liberated in the
case".
He said the refusal to accept the resignation of Joshi would amount to a "political farce".
Attacking the Prime Minister, Reddy said, "While Advani is the main culprit in the case relating to the
Babri Masjid demolition, the Prime Minister turned out to be the culprit in the process that sought to
demolish the case."
