New Delhi: In another step marking collaboration between Indian and US law enforcing agencies,
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) trained Indian police officers in tackling cyber-related and
terrorism crimes like hijacking.
The five-day course held by FBI for 31 officers of various Indian investigating agencies and state police
at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) academy in the outskirts of the capital represents "another
important step forward in the increasingly collaborative relationship between Indian and US law
enforcement agencies", a US Embassy official said on September 19.
At the launch of the course a day after the world observed the second anniversary of the terror attacks
on the US, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in US Embassy Walter North had said "the 9/11 incident
changed our approach and we are co-operating with each other on different issues...We are partners to
wide-ranging activities that are going on between the two countries from health to military".
On the occasion, CBI Joint Director (Administration) U S Dutt said international co-operation was must to
deal with any organised crime including terrorism.
The course was funded by US Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law
Enforcement Affairs.
