Bhubaneswar: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on September 20 said that the verdict of the Special Court in Rae Bareli on September 19 would not have any impact on the movement for the construction of the Ram temple at the disputed site at Ayodhya.

"We expected that all eight accused in the Ayodhya case, which was before the court, would be acquitted, but we are not commenting on the verdict," RSS spokesman Ram Madhav told reporters.

"This was because the incident of December 6, 1992 at Ayodhya, when angry karsevaks pulled down the disputed Babri structure, was the culmination of the spontaneous outburst of the pent-up anger and frustration of the karsevaks," he said, adding it was not a premeditated act by any organisation or individual.

Hence, the theory that there was a conspiracy to demolish that structure doesn't hold any water, Madhav said.

"If at all we are to fix anybody responsible for that incident, it should be the insensitive political establishment, inordinately delayed judicial process and intemperate and provocative gesturing of the pseudo-secular sections of the country," he said.

Since we believe that there was no conspiracy, we deem it appropriate that once the charges are formally framed, the accused should approach higher courts for justice, the RSS spokesman said.
