Sunday, September 21 2003 14:07 Hrs (IST)

Munger (Bihar): Three government officials engaged in flood relief operation drowned when the boat they were returning in from the marooned riverine belt of the district capsized mid-stream of the Ganga ON September 20 night, official sources said ON September 21.

Four other officials who were on board the boat swam to safety, they said.

Bodies of two of the victims were recovered from near Mans village of neighbouring Khagaria district, they said adding efforts were on to trace the third victim.

The boat carrying seven government officials, was returning to the town after distribution of food grains among the flood-hit people when it lost balance due to swift current and capsized, the sources said.

All the officials hailed from Munger district.
