UP CM Mulayam rules out action against Tripathi
Monday, September 22 2003 15:20 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on September 22 came to the rescue of former minister Amarmani Tripathi, ruling out any action against him in the wake of his arrest by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the poetess Madhumita murder case on September 21.

"Tripathi has saved Uttar Pradesh...He has helped in saving the country. Irrespective of what action the CBI or the court takes, there will be no action from Samajwadi Party (against him)," Yadav told reporters.

Tripathi was arrested by the CBI following matching of his blood sample with the foetus of Madhumita's unborn child.
