Narco-terror module busted in Delhi, six held

New Delhi: Delhi Police has busted a narco-terror module by arresting six persons, including a Pakistani
and a Nigeriain, and recovered six kgs of heroin worth Rs six crore, besides American and Pakistani
currency
from them.
The group was allegdly engaged in trafficking in drugs to fund some terrorist activities in the country,
police sources said.
Besides heroin, police recovered USD 23,000 and Pakistani
Rs 20,500 from the six, they said.
Among the arrested persons is one Raj Kumar Mehta, allegedly the main contact person of Pakistan-
based traffickers of weapons, drugs and fake currency, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) B
K Gupta told reporters.
He was allegedly engaged in harbouring terrorists and smugglers in Delhi and two Pakistanis had been
arrested along with 15 kgs RDX from his house in 2000, Gupta said.
The Pakistani national identified as Abdul Hanif of Lahore had been earlier arrested in Delhi in 1996 for
possessing 29 kgs of heroin. He was released from prison in 2002 after Mehta stood surety for him, the
Jt CP said.
Gupta said the masterminds of the racket involved in trafficking drugs to raise funds for terrorisminds
banned in Pakistan.
One of them has been identified as Tariq whose name came to light when one Sandeep Bhuri was killed
in an encounter with Punjab Police in Ludiana in January 2003, and 20 pistols were recovered from him.
