Tuesday, September 23 2003 15:18 Hrs (IST)
Moscow: The issue of terrorism is expected to top the agenda of Russian President Vladimir Putin's
scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf
on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York, the Kremlin said on September 23.
Official sources said that anti-terror combat would figure prominently in Putin's parleys with Vajpayee
and Musharraf.
Putin is expected to remind Musharraf of his promises to end cross border terrorism against India given
in Almaty in May 2002 and his Moscow visit in February 2003.
The Russian President is leaving on September 23 for the 5-day US visit during which he will also
address the UNGA on September 25 and hold informal summit with the US President George Bush at
Camp David on September 26 and 27.
During his 25-minute address to the UNGA, Putin is to voice Russian stand on resolving regional
conflicts, anti-terror combat, nuclear non-proliferation and role of the United Nations Organisation in the
international process.
In New York, Putin is also to hold a trilateral meeting with the French President Jacques Chirac and
German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder at which the German proposal on the UN Security Council
resolution on Iraq would be discussed by them, ITAR-TASS reported quoting Kremlin foreign policy aide
Sergei Prikhodko.
