Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Civil Aviation Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy and some MPs miraculously escaped a major aircraft disaster on September 24 morning, airport sources said.

Naidu, Rudi, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Yerran Naidu and K Ramamohan Rao MP alongwith a few journalists, were on the inaugural flight of Air Deccan from Hyderabad to Vijayawada when the flight, in which they were to travel, developed a technical snag, they said.

A minor fire broke out in the aircraft prompting the crew-members to arrange a safe passage through the emergency door for all the occupants.

Earlier, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who was the chief guest, and Union Urban Development Minister Bandaru Dattatreya left the airport after attending the function.
