Baghdad: A bomb blast at a hotel in Central Baghdad housing staff of the US television network NBC killed one and wounded two other people early September 25, police and witnesses said.

Karim Mariush, a police official, said the blast occurred in the generator room of the Aike Hotel, killing the maintenance man. Witnesses said two other people, including a foreign journalist, were wounded.

Police Captain Haitham Abdel Sattar said the blast was caused by a bomb. The blast damaged the generator room and the basement of the hotel and shattered windows.

Occupants were evacuated and the area was patrolled by Iraqi Police and US soldiers.
