UP govt suspends 3 top IAS officials in Taj case

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on September 25 suspended three senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials - former Chief Secretary D S Bagga, former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister P L Punia and former Environment Secretary V K Gupta - for their alleged involvement in the irregularities in the Rs 175 crore Taj corridor heritage project at Agra.

Chief Secretary A P Singh said a two-member committee has been constituted to hold departmental inquiry against these officials and submit a report by January 18.

Earlier, R K Sharma, Principal Secretary, Environment, was suspended by the then Chief Minister Mayawati in the case.
