Probe ordered into recovery of Israeli missile parts
Friday, September 26 2003 15:49 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Union Minister of State for Defence Prof Chaman Lal Gupta on September 26 said an inquiry has been ordered into the recovery of Israeli missile parts from a house in New Delhi.

"The inquiry is on, and we will ensure that it is not repeated and not harm our country," Gupta told reporters in Bangalore, on the sidelines of a seminar on "Defence Procurement-Opportunities for SMEs in Karnataka", organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Police on September 25 had unearthed six boxes containing missile equipment of Israeli Aircraft Industry from a house of a transport agent in South Delhi which were to be delivered at an Indian Air Force base in Rajasthan.

Gupta said that the defence ministry had taken steps to avoid such incidents in the future.

"We will do that and ensure that things are not repeated," he said, adding that "unless the Inquiry is completed, we cannot decide any thing (on action against the agent)".
