Bangalore: The stage is now set for the launch of India's latest communication satellite INSAT-3E on
September 28 following the September 26 launch readiness review at the spaceport of Kourou in
French Guyana.
The lift-off of Ariane Flight 162 with a trio of satellite payloads - INSAT-3E, SMART-1 of European Space
Agency and e-bird of EUTELSAT - was confirmed, sources in Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO) and the European Space Consortium said.
The review, which is held before every mission, validated the launch readiness of the Ariane 5G launch
vehicle, its three satellite payloads, the spaceport launch base at the Guiana Space Centre, and the
downrage tracking network, Arianespace said.
The lift-off is set at the opening of a 19-minute launch window, which extends from 04:32 to 04:51 hours
(IST) on September 28.
With a lift-off mass of 2,750 kg, INSAT-3E, the telecommunications/video broadcast satellite, is the
largest of Flight 162's payloads.
The three-axis stabilised platform carries 24 normal C-band transponders and 12 extended C-band
transponders and would provide coverage from an orbital slot of 55 degree East longitude (placing it
above the Indian Ocean).
