Baqubah (Iraq): Seven Iraqi civilians were killed and 13 wounded on September 25 night when a mortar fell on a crowded square in Baqubah, North East of Baghdad, police and hospital officials said.

Police Lieutenant Abbas Khodeir said the mortar hit the town, nearly 70 km from the capital, at about 22:40 hours (IST) but could not say who fired it.

Officials of Baqubah's general hospital said seven people died in he blast and they treated seven others who were wounded.
