Impose President's rule in Bihar: Paswan

Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ramvilas Paswan on September 26 asked the Vajpayee
government to impose President's rule in Bihar to free the people from "Rabri-Laloo" misrule and denied
any move to join forces with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
The excuse that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) did not have majority in both the Houses of
Parliament for approval of such a step was no longer valid, he told a crowded press conference in
Patna.
Paswan also said he had no objection to the Laloo Prasad Yadav-led RJD joining any alliance of secular
democratic parties against the NDA in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Claiming that the NDA would not invoke Article 356 against the Rabri Devi government, Paswan alleged
the ruling alliance had been fooling the people of the state and added that the prevailing law and order
situation in Bihar merited imposition of President's rule. "The ball is now in Centre's court," he
said.
To a pointed question whether a move was afoot for his party joining forces with RJD to prevent the BJP
(Bharatiya Janata Party) from coming to power after the next Lok Sabha elections, he said there was no
such proposal at the moment.
Paswan, however, favoured forming a Secular Democratic Alliance (SDA) at the national level to
overthrow the Atal Behari Vajpayee government at the Centre.
All secular parties should come on a common platform to dislodge the NDA government and form an
alternative secular government. "If Laloo joins the SDA, I will have no objection", Paswan said adding the
Congress being the largest party should take the lead in bringing other secular and democratic parties
to a common platform.
