Ahmedabad: Nearly 250 people, including 175 children, were hospitalised for food poisoning after they consumed sweets at a community function in Jamnagar, in Western Gujarat, official sources said on September 27.

However, most of them have been discharged and a few who complained of excessive vomiting were still kept in the hospital, sources added.

"People had consumed boondi and ganthia at a mass dinner on the occasion of Urf festival celebrated by local Muslim community last night and soon they complained of vomiting," sources said, adding, "Cause of the problem is still being investigated."
