Monday, September 29 2003 09:58 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: Security forces on September 29 said the encounter with militants in Gurez sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir was still on and 15 bodies of militants, who tried to infiltrate into the Indian territory, have been found.

"Fifteen bodies have been recovered so far. As per intercepts, the toll is much higher. The exchange of fire between the two sides, which started last night, is still on," Lieutenant Colonel Mukhtar Singh said.

Earlier reports had said 12 militants were killed by security forces in the sector in North Kashmir, foiling their infiltration bid.
