22 foreign diplomats taken to forward areas in JK

Jammu: As part of India's diplomatic offensive to nail Islamabad's denial about sponsoring cross-border
terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, diplomats from 19 countries, including the US, were on September 29
taken to forward areas and confronted with militants, including a top commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba,
and the weaponry used by the ultras.
Army authorities produced before the 22 Defence Attaches district commander of LeT in Doda
Mohammad Shahzad, a resident of Faizalabad in Pakistan, who was trained by sabotage unit of Special
Services Group of Pakistan Army and pushed into Jammu and Kashmir.
The diplomats were also taken to forward areas of Baramulla district, including Gurez where the Army
shot dead 15 militants who tried to infiltrate from across the border in the last six days.
The Attaches also interacted with senior Army officers.
"We want them to understand about direct involvement of Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir militancy," a
senior Defence official said and added with this aim "we will bring here more diplomats to see true
picture at the ground level".
Earlier, the Defence establishment at the 16 Corps had briefed a delegation of British Parliamentarians
on September 27 about involvement of Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir militancy.
The diplomats who visited J&K included two Defence Attaches each from Russia, US and Bangladesh
besides one each from Australia, Afghanistan, France, Italy, Israel, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, North
Korea, South Korea, Kazakhistan, Myanmar, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine and Zambia.
